Webinar Recap: Say Goodbye to Financial FOMO and Get Started with CYBHI
Schools are being reimbursed for mental health services that your staff is providing for free… Let’s change that! The state of California made a $4.7 billion investment to expand school-based mental health care through the Children and Youth Behavioral Health Initiative (CYBHI)Multi-Payer Fee Schedule. The money being reimbursed to these institutions can be used to expand school-based mental health services and programming, hire more staff, and has even saved jobs.
Are you unsure where to start with CYBHI? That’s okay, TadHealth is here to help you along the way. In our latest webinar, Getting Started with the CYBHI Multi-Payer Fee Schedule, we brought together TadHealth experts to provide guidance on how to embark on your own CYBHI journey.
Here is a recap of what you may have missed:
1. Apply, Apply, Apply!
“If you're not already in a cohort… and if you haven't already applied to cohort 5,
apply, apply, apply. It's not as big and scary as it seems. I know there are a lot of moving parts to this initiative. But, we've ironed out a process that we've seen successful.” - Matt Pizzo, VP of Growth
Even if you’re still unsure about what to do, just apply. After you sign up and register for a cohort, there is NO obligation. Do not miss out on the opportunity to begin receiving reimbursements for the school-based mental health services you are already providing as early as January 5th of 2026. TadHealth is proud to offer free, no-strings-attached CYBHI application help. We are a platform that was purpose-built for CYBHI. We are ready and able to help schools submit their CYBHI in as little as 7 minutes!
2. Identify The “Why”
“We have found real success comes when leadership is clear about what is CYBHI, who is participating, and most importantly, why we are doing this.” - Jessica Williams, CYBHI Analyst
CYBHI doesn’t work unless your doers are submitting claims. Plain and simple. For those mental health professionals at your site, who are already overwhelmed, may not understand why you are asking them to do one more thing. Clearing identifying the goals of your participation in CYBHI will help smooth any resistance to this new initiative.
3. Choose a Partner, Not a Vendor.
“What do we send out to parents? How do I introduce this to my staff and get them to buy into a new initiative? The solution, truthfully, is to really take your time and properly seek out and procure a partner in this initiative.
Not a vendor. Not someone looking to add CYBHI to something they might already be providing you. This is brand new.” - Matt Pizzo, VP of Growth
When selecting a partner to embark on your CYBHI journey with, it is essential that they are the experts. Ensure that the partner you select is relieving your staff of the administrative burden related to CYBHI billing, not adding more work. It is also important to make sure that no additional staff are needed when working with them. TadHealth’s platform enables the doers to submit a claim in three clicks or less, and we do not require LEAs to hire additional staff. In addition to the platform, TadHealth offers user support to help your staff navigate their individual CYBHI journeys. With the right partner by your side, your team can focus on care, not complexity.
